Scope of work

Job #037 - Palazzo Destefani -in progress-

Now this estate is fantastic! 3-story house plus basement, 10-car garage, large cabana, and a 1/3 acre courtyard that will knock your socks off.

The 64,000 gallon lagoon-style swimming pool features a swim-up bar, large shallow end, beach entry, and copious amounts of seating. But the first thing you notice isn't this luxurious pool, it's the 40-foot long Roman-style bridge that crosses over the pool.

No entertaining pool is complete without a heated spa, and this one is no exception. The spa features seven JetPaks, for the ultimate in water jet massage. The spa itself surrounds a large 15-foot tall rock water feature that flows over 1200 gallons per minute of water.

Perhaps the most unique feature in the courtyard is something you don't even normally see. A private, intimate cave sits inside the spa - but you'll have to find the entrance, because we've hidden it well. The cave is 11 feet long and 8 feet wide and is subtly lit by indirect mood lighting.

January 21, 2011 - Installing rock on bridge, new patios, flatwork at front fountain

Who is Masterpiece Waterfalls?

Progress continues on the site, you'll notice the main house has scaffolding for the plastering contractor.

Many of the patio areas, decks, walkways, and steps have been poured. The steps are an off-white neutral color called Coquina to contrast the rich browns of the other stamped concrete areas. The steps also have louvered niche lights the cast a warm glow, both for safety and for beauty.

Work on the rock formations continues around the bridge and main waterfall.

December 3, 2011 - Finished rock in lower patio, precast columns

The rock formations surrounding the lower patio are now finished. There are five different paint colors that we layer to achieve the finish you see here.

We have spent considerable time making the private cave have a perfect balance of form and function. Shown in the sixth photo, it is cozy, yet does not feel cramped. The bench (where the buckets and spray bottles are) can comfortably seat 2-3 people, along with the 3 JetPak massage jets. All lighting is done indirectly using fiber optic light bars that cast a soft glow toward the ceiling.

All the fluted columns, bases, and corinthian capitals have been precast on-site and custom made for this project. They give the courtyard walkways a stately and grand appearance.

November 26, 2011 - Painting rock in lower patio

We take as much pride in making our rock formations look natural as we do making them durable. Shown here is Micah adding detail to a section of rock by adding another layer of color.

In the third photo, Randy is working inside the cave installing expanded metal lath between pieces of GFRC rock panels. The lath acts as a barrier to keep the fresh liquid concrete from spilling out as we fill behind the panels.

August 25, 2011 - Driveways poured, bridge primered

Two driveways provide access in and out of the property, and sit on either side of the 75-foot long fountain.

Work on the bridge has continued as well. All the structural steel pieces were sandblasted and then received a coat of primer. A finish coat of paint will also be sprayed on. This is to help protect the steel from rusting. In the 6th photo, you'll see Randy Oxford using the airless sprayer to apply primer to the bridge's underside.

The 10th photo shows our equipment pad which will contain the pumps and filtration equipment. The plywood you see is actually formwork for a concrete wall. The channel strut framework will support two large 3" pipe manifolds (seen in the 9th photo).

July 15, 2011 - Overall site, bridge arch framework

We just finished framing the underside of the bridge that forms the arch. This framework is made up of #4 rebar welded together every 12". This forms a grid that we can attach metal lath to in preparation for plastering.

The main waterfall is located next to the bridge, and will start close to the top of the blue conduits seen against the block wall. The water will fall into the spa and also fall right next to the bridge into a very rocky whitewater area as it enters the swimming pool.
