Special Effects

A collection of the more interesting elements of our work.

Lighting

Lighting. There is no other design element with the same impact as a well-executed lighting system. And it's no wonder, by definition visual arts need light to be experienced. But it's more than just placing lights to shine on important features, it's about using the light and the dark to create a surreal atmosphere.

We utilize many types of lighting systems, both high and low voltage. LED-based systems are at the forefront right now. They are programmable, which means that we can create custom "light shows" that you can select from at the push of a button. We also have extensive experience in fiber-optic lighting as well as traditional incandescent/fluorescent lights.

Monuments

There is a balance that must be found when planning for a monument. The main piece of art must be the center of attention, so the supporting structures have to be "low-key" while lending credibility to the main piece.

Take for example, the bronze mountain lion shown below. The setting was designed to be non-intrusive, yet properly display the art piece. Bronze is "Bathing Beauty" by artist Star Liana York.

Swim-up bars

Swimming pools aren't all about swimming. Sometimes you want a break to just sit, relax, and visit while you're still enjoying the pool. Swim-up bars are a very popular way to do just this. They can also be a great place for kids to enjoy a mid-day drink and snack. Formal or freeform, with geometric lines and granite countertops or lagoon-style.

Accent features

These are elements that promote a sense of discovery and enjoyment long after the "newness" wears off. These can be fairly hidden, in the case of the fossilized fish.

Landscape boulders

Boulders in the landscape can really accent the overall yard, and provide a tie-in to one of our waterfalls. Each boulder is placed for a reason and in balance with other features. Steps, in particular, are a great place to place boulders - they provide a place to stop retaining walls and lend mass to the steps.

Masonry

Our masonry is second to none and built to last. We utilize a variety of techniques to create the look we need, from coral brick to ancient Roman stone. Because we make the masonry out of concrete, it is fitted to perfection. Every cut is made with exacting precision.

Bridges

Sometimes functional, sometimes decorative - bridges give us a perspective that we don't normally see. Small and large, we've built bridges from 2 feet long all the way to 25 feet long. We can make them formal, with brick, tile, or stone. Or we can make them rustic, almost looking unstable.
