What sets us apart from the rest?
In-floor cleaning - The benefits to an well-designed in-floor cleaning system are numerous. The obvious benefit being that you won't need to sweep your pool by hand or use an ugly vacuum. An in-floor cleaning system works similar to a sprinkler system; nozzles on the pool floor pop up when the system is activated and push debris toward the bottom drains to be picked up. When the system turns off, the nozzles then drop back down and are completely flush with the pool floor. These nozzles are located on the main pool floor, and on benches and steps.
Without proper water circulation, "dead spots" will occur in the water. It's our goal to keep your pool clean, clear, and safe from pathogens. Circulation is greatly improved with in-floor cleaning. Filtered water is introduced into the pool (typically every six to eight feet on the pool floor) through the in-floor nozzles. A typical in-floor system has 15-20 nozzles, compare that with 3-4 wall inlets on a typical pool.
An in-floor cleaning system also makes heating your pool much more efficient. We all know that heat rises. Since your heated water is introduced into the pool from the floor, it heats your pool from the bottom up. This eliminates thermal layer problems where the shallow water is warm yet the deep water is cold.
Safety - When it comes to you and your family, safety is priority one. There are many building codes that address safety, we exceed them all. Building a safe pool is much more than just putting a fence around it.
- Physical access - Secure fencing is necessary to keep your pool safe from kids or wandering neighbors. Door alarms are placed on each house door that opens into the pool area.
- Water sanitation - There are many pathogens that grow in water, we eliminate them by utilizing two sanitizers, chlorine and ozone.
- Suction safety - We utilize split suctions that direct flow away from any covered drain to one that is uncovered.
- Entrapment - All hardware items that are installed in the pool (drains, inlets, handrails, etc.) are chosen to be safe and prevent someone from being trapped either by limb or hair.
Thoughtful design - While most pool builders give you an off-the-shelf template pool, each of our pools are 100% custom designed to meet your wants and needs. We take into consideration not just the pool, but all the elements around it.
Efficiency - High-efficiency pumps and heaters mean that you'll spend less on your power bill. The key to an efficient system is getting the right equipment for the right job. For example, there are hundreds of pumps in the marketplace, and most of them will work. But they won't work well. Proper calculation of the flow rate needed and the TDH (resistance to water flow in the plumbing and equipment) is necessary to correctly determine the most efficient pump to use.
Filtration systems typically have restrictive devices (filters, heaters, etc) for the water to flow through, which means that the pump must produce quite a bit of pressure. For our filtration systems, we often use variable-speed pumps such as the Pentair IntelliFlo that can be adjusted on-the-fly to meet the demands of the pool or spa. Different pool operations require different demands from the pump. For example, running the in-floor cleaning system may require 70 gpm (gallons per minute), while the JetPaks in the spa may require 80 gpm each. We program these flow rates into the pump and it automatically raises or lowers it's speed to meet those rates.
IntelliFlo pumps are also an ideal choice when replacing your old pump. Unlike a traditional on/off pump, they have built-in controls that allow it to be used independently of a time clock. We can tell the pump how large your pool is, how many times we want the water to go through the system per day, and it does the rest - automatically.
Water features have completely different demands from a pump. They need very high flow rates with very low pressure - which is exactly what a low-head pump provides. Let's say, for example, that we've calculated a waterfall that needs 180 gpm of water flow to achieve the look we need. A normal high-head pool pump would need a 3HP motor to deliver that much water, and running a 3HP motor is expensive. Contrast that with a Pentair Waterfall pump that will deliver the same amount of flow using only a 3/4HP motor. We've just cut electrical usage to 25% of what it was, just by picking the right pump for the right job. Plus, the Waterfall pumps are very quiet compared to traditional pumps.
Sometimes it's necessary to step up to a commercial pump such as the Pentair EQ Series which offer flow rates from 400 to 800 gpm. High-head models are available for large commercial filtration systems, and low-head models are available for massive water features.
The EQ Series feature humongous strainer baskets, which means that it can collect more debris before needing to be emptied. They are also more efficient than other similar-sized commercial pumps.
Hydraulic efficiency is often an overlooked part of a swimming pool, but it plays an important role in reducing friction loss, which in turn reduces the amount of power your pump needs to operate. All our plumbing is sized to handle the designed flow at a maximum water velocity of 5 feet per second. This low velocity also reduces wear and tear inside the pipe helping to extend the life your system.
Automation - When it comes to maintenance of the pool and it's water chemistry, if it's too complex, it doesn't get done. That's why we offer complete automation for your pool water, utilizing ORP and pH sensors to automatically feed the right amount of chlorine and acid.
Salt water systems - We hear nothing but rave reviews about our salt systems. It's very soft on the skin and won't cause dryness upon drying off. The amount of salt in the water is roughly equivalent to the fluid that coats your eyes - so it won't burn your eyes if you open them underwater.
Salt systems are often misunderstood. You won't have to add standard forms of chlorine to your pool but salt water pools still utilize chlorine as a sanitizer. They are, however, able to keep chlorine levels lower than a normal pool would. Instead of adding chlorine to the water, you just add salt when necessary.
To remain truly automated, we also install a pH sensor and acid feeder on all salt water systems. The reason is that salt systems continuously raise pH levels, which severely limits the effectiveness of chlorine. By keeping the pH stabilized around 7.4-7.5 with an automatic acid feeder, the chlorine in your pool will work to it's fullest potential.
Water features - They are our primary business! From elegant laminar jets, to statuary, to rock waterfalls, our water features set us apart from the rest.
Special effects - Colored lighting is a very hot item right now, with simple fiber-optic or LED-based lights, you can set just the right mood for your evening. For the ultimate in lighting, we also install DMX-512 lighting systems. We can program custom "light shows" that you can activate by simply pushing a button. See our special effects page for more information.
